Camille Thiriet: Craft Precision in Corgoloin

Corgoloin, Burgundy, France

At Domaine Camille Thiriet, winemaking relies on low-intervention precision and meticulous manual labor. Operating out of the historic Château de Comblanchien in Corgoloin, this micro-négociant crafts pure, terroir-driven expressions of Burgundy.

An Artisanal Pursuit

Camille Thiriet and her partner Matt Chittick founded the micro-estate after years of experience in fine wine. Specifically, Camille managed hospitality and commercial operations at Nicolas Potel and Domaine de la Vougeraie, while Matt served as winemaker at Domaine Arlaud. Together, they channeled their deep passion into creating a true garage-boutique project.

The team sources grapes from organic and biodynamically farmed micro-plots across the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. Production stays small by design, allowing every batch to receive individual hand-attention.

Micro-Terroirs of Corgoloin and Beyond

Camille Thiriet

In particular, the domaine focuses heavily on forgotten or overlooked parcels in Corgoloin and Comblanchien. Clay-limestone soils define these sites, ultimately giving the wines natural freshness and precise mineral energy.

Shallow, rocky topsoils mark high-elevation sites like Clos Magny and La Montagne, creating light, floral Pinot Noir. Lower plots with deeper clay feed vines for Les Blanches and En La Place, adding texture, color, and depth.

In the Cellar

To respect the raw fruit, Matt Chittick employs traditional winemaking methods. First, the team sorts all grapes by hand using a wooden sorting table (râteau).

Next, white wines undergo gentle pressing in a traditional vertical wooden basket press. Meanwhile, fermentation takes place naturally with native yeasts in oak barrels. Finally, the team bottles without fining or filtration, keeping intervention to an absolute minimum to preserve aromatic purity.

Capturing Individual Expression

As a result, expect a signature style defined by high-toned floral aromatics, silky fruit, and vibrant limestone acidity. On one hand, the whites offer bright citrus, subtle white flower notes, and clean mineral tension.

On the other hand, the reds present crunchy red berry fruit, wild herbs, and fine, structural tannins. Over time, cellaring reveals layered spice and delicate forest floor complexity across both Regional and Côte de Nuits-Villages bottlings.
