Domaine des Lambrays: Crown Jewel of the Côte de Nuits

Morey-Saint-Denis, Burgundy, France

At Domaine des Lambrays, the cellar team farms an estate rooted in Burgundy’s deepest history. The smooth slopes of the Clos offer diverse sun exposures that bring complex character to each bottle.

A Heritage Built Since 1365

The earliest records of the estate trace back to 1365 in property deeds at the Abbaye de Cîteaux. Following the French Revolution, the property was split among more than 70 owners before being reunified in the late 19th century.

Restoration efforts in the 20th century led to the estate receiving its Grand Cru classification in 1981. Today, the historic estate is guided under the stewardship of LVMH.

An Amphitheater of Limestone

The main vineyard stretches across nearly nine hectares in the heart of the Côte de Nuits. Smooth slopes across the vineyard create varied micro-climates that shape the finished wine.

Marl soils dominate the top of the Clos, adding freshness and aromatic lift. Deep clay mixes with limestone along the bottom, providing weight, color, and structure.

In the Cellar

The winemaking team ages the wines in underground vaulted cellars that date back to the 16th and 17th centuries. Careful grape sorting during harvest ensures that only top-quality fruit enters the winery.

The Grand Cru ages in oak barrels, with half of the oak renewed each year. This barrel program builds texture and depth while preserving the pure Pinot Noir fruit.

Capturing Individual Expression

Expect a signature profile that joins dark fruit notes with supple texture and elegant complexity. The Premier Cru wines like Les Loups use select plots and younger vines from the estate.

The Grand Cru combines full-bodied structure with refined balance. Cellaring reveals complex secondary notes, proving why the estate remains a celebrated jewel of the Côte de Nuits.
